The southern Sterling Highway runs down the western Kenai Peninsula to Homer, ending at the Homer Spit — a long, narrow finger of land reaching into Kachemak Bay. The drive overlooks the bay's snow-capped peaks and active volcanoes across Cook Inlet, with the fishing and arts town of Homer at road's end. Clam Gulch and the bluffs above the inlet line the way.
