Dry Creek Scenic Road is a 6.5-mile stretch of Arizona State Route 89A through Sedona's Red Rock Country, running southwest toward Cottonwood across the Verde Valley. Short as it is, the drive delivers some of the most photographed red-rock views in the state, with layered sandstone formations rising on both sides of the highway. Along the way, the hilltop Chapel of the Holy Cross, built into the red rock itself, is a signature stop, and the Two Trees Observation Area draws stargazers after dark thanks to Sedona's protected dark skies. The road itself is free to drive, though the Coconino National Forest charges a separate day-use fee for parking and trail access within the surrounding Red Rock Country. Because it's short and close to Sedona, most visitors treat it as a scenic add-on to a longer stay rather than a standalone drive, pairing it with hikes or the town's art galleries and red-rock jeep tours.
