Arizona preserves the longest unbroken stretch of old Route 66 still drivable, curving northwest from Seligman through Peach Springs to Kingman and on toward the Colorado River. Seligman bills itself as the birthplace of the Route 66 revival, and the road is lined with vintage motels, diners, and trading posts. Beyond Kingman it climbs the tight switchbacks of the Black Mountains to Oatman, a former gold town where wild burros wander the main street.
