State Route 180 drops from the giant sequoia groves around Grant Grove into Kings Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in North America, carved by the Kings River below soaring granite walls. The road follows the wild, roaring river to Cedar Grove and Road's End, the gateway to the High Sierra backcountry. Like Yosemite's Tioga Road, the canyon road closes with winter snow.
