State Scenic Highway 126 covers Route 126 along the Santa Clara River Valley between Ventura and Santa Clarita, California's citrus-farm corridor. It passes through the citrus and avocado farm towns of Santa Paula and Fillmore, running beneath the Topatopa Mountains to the north and the Santa Susana range to the south, with long views across orchards and open agricultural land. That setting has made the eastern Ventura County segment eligible for California's State Scenic Highway System, though local jurisdictions along the corridor have not yet adopted the required scenic corridor protection plan, so it remains on the eligible list rather than officially designated. Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and freight rail run alongside portions of the highway, and the drive is a common route for cyclists heading between the coast and the interior valleys.
