State Scenic Highway 127 is a 91-mile desert route in eastern California tracing the eastern edge of Death Valley National Park. It runs from Interstate 15 in Baker north to the Nevada state line through some of the emptiest country in the state, passing Eagle Mountain and following the Amargosa River past salt flats and creosote-covered basins before reaching Death Valley Junction, where it meets Route 190 for travelers heading into the park itself, then continuing on to the Nevada border near Pahrump. It has been listed among California's eligible State Scenic Highways for its stark desert vistas, though it has not received the official designation that requires a local corridor protection program, largely because there is little development along the route to protect against in the first place. Services are sparse, so drivers should fuel up before setting out across this stretch of the Mojave.
