State Scenic Highway 25 covers a San Benito County stretch of Route 25 that provides access to Pinnacles National Park's eastern entrance. The recognized segment runs between State Route 198 and State Route 156 near Hollister, part of the longer road known locally as the Airline Highway that runs parallel to the San Andreas Fault along the Gabilan and Diablo mountain ranges, passing through the towns of Paicines and Tres Pinos amid wide-open cattle country and rolling golden hills typical of the inner Coast Ranges, with little development to interrupt the views. This segment has been placed on California's list of highways eligible for State Scenic Highway status, though it has not received official designation, which would require San Benito County to adopt a corridor protection plan. The road is popular with motorcyclists for its long straightaways and sweeping curves through largely empty ranchland, offering a quieter approach to Pinnacles than the park's main entrance off Highway 146.
