State Scenic Highway 57, better known as the Orange Freeway, links downtown Orange to Glendora across the Peninsular Ranges. The stretch through Brea Canyon, between State Routes 90 and 60, is legally eligible for California's scenic highway program but has never been officially designated by Caltrans. For most of its length SR 57 functions as a dense commuter freeway connecting the Los Angeles Basin to the Pomona and San Gabriel valleys, so the eligible canyon segment is a brief, hillier exception rather than the highway's defining character.
