State Scenic Highway 92 crosses the Santa Cruz Mountains between Half Moon Bay and the San Francisco Peninsula's Crystal Springs Reservoir. It's eligible for California's scenic highway program but has not been officially designated by Caltrans. Heading east from the coast, Half Moon Bay Road climbs over the mountains before descending toward the reservoir, where the highway runs along the westerly right-of-way of Cañada Road with views down onto Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir. Near its eastern end the route meets Skyline Boulevard (State Route 35) and Interstate 280, giving travelers a quick way to swap a foggy coastal drive for a ridge-top or reservoir-side one within a few miles.
