The Colorado side of the Dinosaur Diamond National Scenic Byway runs through the fossil country of the state's western edge, from the town of Dinosaur and the canyons of Dinosaur National Monument down through Rangely to Fruita and Grand Junction. Highlights include Fruita's Dinosaur Journey museum and the Rabbit Valley "Trail Through Time," where bones and tracks lie exposed in place along a short walking loop. Near the Utah line the route skirts the red sandstone canyons of Colorado National Monument.
