Echo Park Road is a remote, unpaved road in Dinosaur National Monument, running roughly 12 to 14 miles down to Echo Park. The hidden flat sits at the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers, reached via a junction on Harpers Corner Road. The turnoff sits more than 25 miles up Harpers Corner Road from the monument's Canyon Visitor Center in the town of Dinosaur, Colorado, and the road itself roughly straddles the Colorado-Utah border as it descends toward the rivers. The clay soil surface means the road becomes impassable whenever it's wet or snow-covered, and high-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicles are strongly recommended even in dry conditions; it isn't suitable for RVs or trailers. The payoff for the rough descent is Echo Park itself, a quiet river-bottom flat beneath towering sandstone walls, with a small campground at road's end that puts visitors right at the confluence most other monument viewpoints only look down on from a distance.
