Elevenmile Canyon Scenic & Historic Auto Tour is a roughly 9-mile gravel drive along the South Platte River near Lake George, Colorado. It runs below the dam of Eleven Mile Reservoir in the southeast corner of South Park. The road follows the former grade of the Colorado Midland Railroad, squeezed into a narrow granite canyon alongside the river, and its signature feature is a run of three rock tunnels blasted through the canyon walls for the railroad and later reused for the road; the tunnels narrow to a single lane, while the rest of the drive is a maintained, two-lane gravel surface open to any street-legal vehicle. The South Platte here is one of Colorado's well-known Gold Medal trout waters, and the canyon draws as many anglers pulling over at streamside turnouts as it does drivers passing through. Short and manageable, the auto tour makes an easy add-on to a visit to Eleven Mile Reservoir or a South Park loop out of Lake George.
