Harpers Corner Road

Harpers Corner Road is a 31-mile paved scenic drive in Dinosaur National Monument, running almost entirely through Colorado to an overlook above the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers. The drive begins just east of the town of Dinosaur, Colorado, on US Highway 40, and climbs onto open plateau country before running for miles along canyon rims carved by the two rivers below. A short stretch near the midpoint crosses briefly into Utah, past the turnoff for the unpaved Echo Park Road, before the route returns to Colorado for its final miles. Along the way, pullouts mark named rock formations and canyon overlooks, with the Uinta Mountains visible to the north on clear days. The road ends at the Harpers Corner trailhead, where a 2-mile round-trip nature trail leads to one of the monument's signature views, a narrow promontory looking straight down on the Green and Yampa Rivers meeting far below. It's the primary scenic drive in the Colorado half of Dinosaur National Monument, and most visitors treat it as a half-day out-and-back from the park's Canyon Visitor Center.
