Palisade Fruit and Wine Byway

Palisade Fruit and Wine Byway, known locally as the Fruit Loop, is a set of scenic roads through Colorado's Palisade wine and orchard country on the Western Slope. It's designated by the Palisade Chamber of Commerce rather than a state or federal byway program. The byway breaks into three connected loops: the 25-mile East Orchard Mesa Loop, which climbs into hilly vineyard and orchard country with wide valley views; the 5-mile East Cruiser Loop, running flat along the banks of the Colorado River; and the 7-mile West Cruiser Loop, threading through central and western Palisade past more wineries and fruit stands. Peach orchards, vineyards, and roadside stands line most of the route, reflecting Palisade's status as Colorado's best-known wine and stone-fruit growing region, helped by the Grand Valley's long growing season and Colorado River water. The loops are just as popular with cyclists as drivers, with bike rentals and guided tours available in town, so the byway doubles as one of the state's more relaxed wine-and-orchard touring routes.
