Broward County A1A Scenic Highway

Broward County A1A Scenic Highway is a 32-mile Florida Scenic Highway along the Atlantic coast, running from the Palm Beach County line south to the Miami-Dade County line. Designated by the state in January 2009, the corridor follows State Road A1A from Deerfield Beach through Hillsboro Beach, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Sea Ranch Lakes, Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach on its way to Aventura, with short detours onto the 17th Street Causeway, a stretch of US 1, and Dania Beach Boulevard along the way. The route strings together nearly every beachfront community in Broward County, alternating between high-rise oceanfront blocks in Fort Lauderdale and quieter, lower-density stretches farther north. A local corridor management entity oversees the highway's upkeep and beautification under Florida's Scenic Highways Program. Because it runs the full length of the county's coastline, most drivers treat it as a series of beach-town stops rather than one continuous trip, using it to move between Fort Lauderdale's beach strip and the quieter towns to its north and south.
