US-1's Overseas Highway runs about 113 miles from the mainland to Key West, hopping across 42 bridges and the islands between them over the turquoise water of Florida Bay and the Atlantic. Its defining stretch is the Seven Mile Bridge, with open water on both horizons, paralleled by the ruins of Henry Flagler's original railroad bridge. The road ends at Key West, the southernmost point in the continental United States.
