Green Mountain Scenic Byway runs 45.2 miles between Mount Dora and Winter Garden along the western edge of Lake Apopka in Central Florida. The route passes through the community of Tildenville and the small towns of Oakland, Montverde, and Ferndale. Its namesake, Sugarloaf Mountain, rises to 312 feet near Montverde, the highest point on the Florida peninsula, and the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook nearby features a 130-foot elevated boardwalk leading to a platform with views across Lake Apopka to the Orlando skyline. The byway has become one of Florida's most popular road-cycling routes and hosts several internationally recognized triathlons each year, alongside access to trailheads, lakeside parks, and small-town main streets at either end.
