This loop in the northwest corner of Georgia winds through the long parallel ridges and valleys of the southern Appalachians, a landscape of forested mountains and rural farmland. It passes the Pocket, a spring-fed cove in the Chattahoochee National Forest, and lies near the Civil War battlefield of Chickamauga. Hardwood forest makes it a quiet fall-color drive.
