Lake Coeur d'Alene Scenic Byway is a 36-mile scenic drive along Idaho Highway 97, tracing the lake's eastern shoreline in the Idaho panhandle. The paved route begins at Interstate 90 near Coeur d'Alene and runs south along the water, closely following the shore where forested hillsides drop toward the lake's edge. It ends at a junction with Idaho Highway 3, connecting directly into the White Pine Scenic Byway and letting drivers extend the trip further south through more of the panhandle's forest country. Much of the drive is narrow and winding, following the lake's contours rather than cutting a straight line, with frequent views across the water toward its forested coves and islands. Because it hugs the shoreline instead of running inland, the byway makes a scenic half-day loop from Coeur d'Alene rather than a fast through-route, and it pairs naturally with the connecting White Pine Scenic Byway for a longer Idaho road trip.
