This byway follows the Salmon River — the "River of No Return" — across central Idaho on US-93 and State Route 75, tracing one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the lower 48 deep into rugged wilderness country. It passes the old mining town of Salmon, whitewater put-ins, and the edge of the vast Frank Church–River of No Return Wilderness. Lewis and Clark passed through this country in 1805.
