US-30 follows the Snake River through the Hagerman Valley, where dozens of springs burst straight out of the canyon walls — water from the Snake River Plain aquifer surfacing after an underground journey of many miles. The Hagerman Fossil Beds nearby preserve some of the richest late-Pliocene fossils in North America, including the Hagerman horse. The byway combines river, springs, and farmland.
