The Boone Creek Scenic Byway is an 8.6-mile loop through limestone palisades and horse country just southeast of Lexington, Kentucky. Reached via KY 418 and connecting local roads, the drive passes dramatic limestone bluffs and small waterfalls carved by Boone Creek, along with the horse farms and hand-stacked stone fences the Bluegrass region is known for. Along the loop stands the original Grimes Mill and an 1813 limestone house that today serves as home to the Iroquois Hunt Club, one of the oldest fox-hunting clubs in the country. Nearby, the Boone Station State Historic Site marks the settlement Daniel Boone and his extended family founded in December 1779, with a short self-guided trail and picnic area open to visitors. The loop is compact enough to combine easily with a day trip into downtown Lexington, giving a quick escape into palisade scenery without a long drive.
