Pisgah Pike Scenic Byway is a Bluegrass horse-country drive between Versailles and Lexington, through Kentucky's largest rural historic district. The two-lane route, Kentucky 1967, is celebrated for its wildflowers and a canopy of trees that arches over the road, passing dozens of thoroughbred horse farms bounded by the black plank fences and dry-stacked stone walls the region is famous for, along with the 1812 Pisgah Presbyterian Church, one of the oldest congregations in central Kentucky. USA Today has singled out the pike, along with neighboring Old Frankfort Pike, as a must-see Kentucky scenic drive for its tunnel-of-trees effect in summer. Along the way, the route offers access to Keeneland, the storied horse-racing track and auction house, and The Kentucky Castle, a farm-to-table estate with spa services and tasting dinners. It's one of the most photographed short drives in the Lexington horse-farm circuit.
