Cajun Corridor Byway runs 34 miles between Gueydan and Delcambre in south Louisiana's rice and seafood country. The route showcases the culinary seasons that define this part of Acadiana, from locally caught shrimp and crawfish to hearty rice dishes and spiced Cajun meats. Delcambre, the byway's eastern end, calls itself the shrimp capital of the region, and every August the town's Shrimp Festival draws crowds as the local fleet heads back out to the Gulf for the new season. Between the two towns the drive crosses flat coastal prairie given over almost entirely to rice fields and crawfish ponds, the working landscape behind much of the region's signature food.
