Zachary Taylor Parkway runs roughly 210 miles from Alexandria, Louisiana, to Poplarville, Mississippi. It's named for the 12th U.S. president, a hero of the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War who kept a home in Baton Rouge. Along the way it passes Bogalusa, host to the annual Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival, and Franklinton, known for its blueberry farms and nearby Bogue Chitto State Park. Clinton contributes a Greek Revival courthouse and St. Francisville its well-preserved historic district, and the route crosses the Mississippi River on the John James Audubon Bridge before reaching New Roads, tying together small-town Louisiana on both sides of the river.
