State Route 26 climbs through Grafton Notch in the rugged Mahoosuc Range of western Maine, a deep mountain pass with a cluster of accessible natural features. Short trails reach Screw Auger Falls, Mother Walker Falls, and Moose Cave, and the Appalachian Trail crosses the notch on its way over Old Speck. Moose are common in the surrounding bogs and forest.
