Maryland's 57-mile stretch of the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Scenic Byway runs entirely within Frederick County. It follows US 15 from the Pennsylvania line just north of Emmitsburg south through Frederick and Point of Rocks to the Potomac River at the Virginia border, forming the middle link of a 180-mile, three-state corridor stretching from Gettysburg to Charlottesville that is billed as covering 400 years of American history. Within Maryland, the route reaches the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, the Roger Brooke Taney House (home of the fifth U.S. Chief Justice), Rose Hill Manor, and the historic 1876 Point of Rocks railroad station.
