Route 2 across northern Massachusetts follows an old Native American path and, in 1914, became one of the first designated scenic auto routes in New England. It climbs through the Berkshire hills past the dramatic Hairpin Turn above North Adams and the Hoosac Range, with long views over the valleys below. Trading posts and the Bridge of Flowers near Shelburne Falls are classic stops.
