The Sugar Camp Scenic Byway is a 28-mile Forest Service byway through Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest, designated in 1995. It combines 20 miles of paved highway with 9 miles of maintained gravel road, crossing wooded hills and thick hollows covered in oak and pine, opening onto stream valleys, rocky bluffs, and long-range vistas typical of Missouri's Ozark hill country. Onyx and Sugar Camp towers offer rest stops with picnic areas along the drive, while Roaring River State Park, known for some of the best trout fishing in the Ozarks, and Table Rock Lake provide water recreation within easy reach of the byway. Onyx Cave adds an underground attraction to the route's otherwise above-ground scenery. Like most Ozark byways, fall brings the most dramatic color, though the drive stays open and scenic through every season. It's one of the longer Forest Service byways in the Mark Twain National Forest, and one of the few in Missouri mixing paved and gravel surfaces along a single designated route.
