This byway runs about 40 miles up the valley between the East and West Pioneer Mountains of southwestern Montana, between Wise River and Polaris. It passes Crystal Park, where visitors can dig for quartz crystals, and the well-preserved ghost town of Coolidge with its old silver mill. The high, lightly traveled route is closed by snow in winter.
