This byway follows the route of the Lincoln Highway — America's first transcontinental auto road — across central Nebraska along the Platte River valley. The corridor traces the same broad path used by the Oregon and Mormon trails and the transcontinental railroad before it. At Kearney, the Great Platte River Road Archway arches over Interstate 80 to tell the story of westward travel.
