This road climbs into Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains near Elko, a glacier-carved U-shaped gorge so striking it's nicknamed "Nevada's Yosemite" or the "Grand Canyon of Nevada." Sheer rock walls, hanging valleys, and waterfalls rise above the road, which dead-ends at a trailhead into the high Ruby Mountains Wilderness. Wildflowers and aspen color make summer and fall the prime seasons.
