A 13-mile one-way loop winds through Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just west of Las Vegas, beneath cliffs of vividly banded red and tan Aztec sandstone. The Keystone Thrust has stacked gray limestone atop the red rock in a dramatic geologic contrast, and the canyon is a world-class destination for rock climbers. It is a striking natural counterpoint minutes from the Strip.
