State Route 475 climbs from Santa Fe into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Santa Fe National Forest, rising from piñon-juniper foothills into aspen and spruce near the Santa Fe ski basin at about 10,000 feet. The road gives access to trailheads into the Pecos Wilderness and is a popular short escape from the city, especially when the aspens turn gold in autumn. Hyde Memorial State Park sits along the way.
