Scenic Route 90 runs 53 miles through the historic farm country of the Finger Lakes region, mostly within Cayuga County, from the village of Homer in the south to the town of Montezuma in the north. For several miles, the road hugs a high ridge overlooking Cayuga Lake, giving drivers some of the best elevated lake views in the region. Small towns along the way preserve rural New York life through museum exhibits, shop-lined main streets, restored historic hotels, and a vintage railway display. The route also reaches the final home of Harriet Tubman, one of the most celebrated conductors of the Underground Railroad, along the corridor near Auburn. Rolling farmland, state parks, and wildlife habitat fill out the rest of the drive, making this a quieter, history-focused alternative to the more heavily trafficked wine-trail roads directly along the Finger Lakes shoreline.
