Big Darby Plains Scenic Byway runs more than 27 miles through Union, Champaign, and Madison counties in central Ohio. It parallels Big Darby Creek, a state- and federally designated scenic river prized for smallmouth bass fishing and one of the healthiest warm-water ecosystems in the Midwest. The route passes North Lewisburg, Milford Center, Unionville Center, and Plain City, with more than 20 additional miles of marked spurs along Route 161, Middleburg-Plain City Road, Inskeep Cratty Road, West Darby Road, Stokes Road, and Route 739. Covered and historic bridges, century farms, old cemeteries, and homes of interest line the drive, along with access points to nature preserves and parks set along the creek's wooded corridor. It's a quiet, working-farmland counterpoint to the Columbus suburbs expanding just to the east.
