Drovers' Trail Scenic Byway runs 37 miles through Belmont County in eastern Ohio. It follows State Route 800 between Hendrysburg and Barnesville, then State Route 147 on to Bellaire. The name recalls the road's 19th-century role as a heavily traveled drovers' route, when farmers walked cattle and other livestock along it to river markets before railroads took over that trade. Historic homes and small-town architecture from that era still line the corridor, mixed with the scenic vistas of Belmont County's hill country. The byway also functions as a connector, tying into both the Historic National Road and the Ohio River Scenic Byway at its endpoints, which makes it a natural link for travelers stringing together a longer eastern Ohio road trip rather than a single isolated drive.
