This byway winds through the Hocking Hills of southeastern Ohio, a pocket of rugged Appalachian foothills carved into towering blackhand sandstone. It links the region's famous gorges and recess caves — Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and the Rock House — shaded by hemlock and dripping with waterfalls. The cliffs and cool, fern-lined ravines are unlike anywhere else in the state.
