Wally Road Scenic Byway follows the old Toledo, Walhonding Valley and Ohio Railroad corridor through the Mohican and Walhonding river valleys in east-central Ohio. Locals called the line "the Wally," a 45-mile connection between Coshocton and Loudonville that opened in 1892 and was once considered one of the most scenic train rides in the state, showing off forested hilltops, deep ravines, wetlands, and rich bottomland that had previously been reachable only by river or remote village roads. The railroad shut down in 1942, but the modern highway byway now follows much of its old right-of-way, keeping the same river-valley views accessible to drivers instead of passengers.
