This byway runs through the Wichita Mountains of southwestern Oklahoma, an ancient range of weathered granite rising abruptly from the surrounding plains. Much of it lies within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, where free-roaming bison, longhorn cattle, and elk graze among the boulders and a road climbs Mount Scott for a sweeping view. The rugged rock and restored prairie wildlife are the highlights.
