The Crawford Lakelands Byway loops 37 miles through northwestern Pennsylvania, linking Jamestown and Linesville on a double-loop tour of two very different lakes. Designated a Pennsylvania scenic byway in 2011, the route follows U.S. Route 6 and State Routes 18, 618, 285, and 3011 past Conneaut Lake, a natural glacial lake whose Seneca name, Kon-ne-ot, means 'Snow Waters,' and Pymatuning Lake, the largest artificial lake in Pennsylvania. The byway serves as the main approach to Pymatuning State Park, known for boating, fishing, and eagle watching, and to the Pymatuning Spillway, a local curiosity nicknamed 'where the ducks walk on the fish' for the crowds of waterfowl and carp that gather to be fed by visitors. Conneaut Lake adds swimming and water skiing along its shoreline. The route works well as a full day out, threading state forest and farmland between the two lakeshores rather than following a single river or ridge.
