Gateway to the Endless Mountains is a short, 3-mile stretch of US 6 through Tunkhannock in Wyoming County. It's framed by views down onto the Susquehanna River and the forested ridgeline the region takes its name from. As its name suggests, the byway functions less as a destination in itself and more as the doorway into the broader Endless Mountains region of northeastern Pennsylvania, a swath of rugged, glacially carved hills stretching north toward the New York line. In town, the drive passes the Dietrich Theatre, a restored community landmark, before continuing toward specialty shops and trailheads; farther afield it connects to attractions such as the Bird Song Winery in Dushore. Travelers using this short byway as a jumping-off point can expect access to state parks, waterfalls, and hiking trails scattered through Wyoming and Sullivan counties, even though the designated road itself covers only a few miles.
