The Viaduct Valley Way Scenic Byway runs 37.3 miles along State Routes 171, 92, and 11 between Lanesboro and Dixon in Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains region. It threads historic villages, bluestone quarry country, and rich valley farmland across Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. First designated along State Route 92 in 2005 and later extended to its current length, the byway takes its name from the two landmark railroad viaducts it passes: the Starrucca Viaduct in Lanesboro, a stone arch bridge completed in 1848 that remains the oldest stone-arch railroad bridge still in use in Pennsylvania, and the Tunkhannock Viaduct in Nicholson, a 2,375-foot concrete arch bridge finished in 1915 that was the largest concrete structure in the world at the time. Beyond the viaducts, the route reaches the Susquehanna County Historical Society Museum and the Florence Shelly Preserve nature sanctuary. Fall foliage season is the byway's best-known draw, when forested ridges frame both century-old viaducts in color.
