Veterans Memorial Parkway runs 2.4 miles along the Providence River in East Providence, Rhode Island, built between 1910 and 1920. The parkway follows early 20th-century design principles, with mature trees and a landscaped right-of-way meant to be enjoyed as part of the drive rather than just a route between two points. Its riverside alignment affords some of the more striking views available of the downtown Providence skyline across the water. As one of Rhode Island's nine designated scenic roadways, it represents the state's smallest and most urban entry on the list, a planned parkway rather than an old rural lane.
