This 18-mile loop through Custer State Park in the Black Hills is one of the best places in the country to see free-roaming wildlife from the car. It winds through rolling grassland and pine hills where one of the largest publicly owned bison herds in the world grazes, along with pronghorn, elk, and the park's famous "begging burros." An annual bison roundup draws crowds each fall.
