State Route 211 drops off the high plateau into Indian Creek toward the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Near the top stands Newspaper Rock, a single sandstone panel crowded with petroglyphs carved over some 2,000 years. The towering Wingate sandstone walls below are world-famous among rock climbers for their splitter crack lines.
