Island Park Road is a roughly 10-mile unpaved drive into a remote section of Dinosaur National Monument in eastern Utah, reached by turning off State Road 149 south of the Quarry Visitor Center. The route follows Brush Creek Road across Brush Creek Bridge before splitting off toward Island Park, crossing back into the monument near the Ruple Ranch site. High-clearance vehicles are recommended, and the road becomes impassable when wet, so dry summer and fall conditions are the only reliable window to drive it. The reward for the rough approach is solitude: the road passes within view of the McKee Spring Petroglyphs, ancient rock art visible with binoculars from the roadside, and reaches the flatter bottomland around Rainbow Park Campground, a put-in point along the Green River. Unlike the monument's paved main roads, Island Park Road sees little traffic, making it one of the quieter ways to reach the river canyons that define Dinosaur National Monument.
