This greenway follows Interstate 90 east from Seattle over Snoqualmie Pass and down to the Columbia River near Ellensburg, a corridor protected to keep forests and open space along a major highway. It passes Snoqualmie Falls, the forested western slopes of the Cascades, and the dry pine-and-sage country east of the crest. It is unusual among scenic byways for following an interstate.
