Rustic Road 19 runs north from County B on Lalor Road to Goodland Park Road in Dane County, near Madison, an ecologically distinctive stretch of Wisconsin's Rustic Roads system. Native prairie plants border the road on both sides, including stands of wild plum and scattered wild asparagus, while the route crosses Swan and Murphy creeks and skirts the edge of the Waubesa Wetlands, a significant wetland preserve just southeast of Madison. Set back among evergreens along one side of the road is the William Lalor Farm, land originally purchased from the federal government in 1846, giving the drive a tie to some of the earliest Euro-American settlement in the area. As with all Wisconsin Rustic Roads, the 45 mph limit and light traffic keep the pace slow, making it an easy, quick detour for Madison-area residents rather than a long day trip. Its proximity to a major metro area makes it one of the more accessible Rustic Roads in the state.
