US-14 climbs the northern Bighorn Mountains between Sheridan and Greybull, cresting near Granite Pass and descending the dramatic Shell Canyon past Shell Falls. A side road leads to the Medicine Wheel, an ancient stone circle high on a windswept ridge that remains a sacred site to many Plains tribes. The byway crosses high alpine meadow and deep canyon in a single run.
